The main focus for the Connecticut HIV Planning Consortium (CHPC) in 2022 will be the development of the state's 2022-2026 Integrated HIV Prevention and Care Plan.
The CHPC will take a syndemic approach to developing the new Plan. A syndemic is a set of 2 or more overlapping epidemics connected by behaviors and conditions impacting the same people and the communities in which they live. Connecticut’s syndemic focuses on 4 epidemics: HIV; Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI); Substance Use Disorder (SUD); and Viral Hepatitis (VH).
Please visit the Connecticut Ending the Syndemic (ETS) Initiative website for more information. The goal of Connecticut’s ETS Initiative is for all people living with HIV, VH, STIs, and SUD to have access to the prevention and care services that they need.
People around the globe will come together on December 1 to celebrate the 35th annual World AIDS Day. The day represents an opportunity to show solidarity in the fight against HIV and AIDS, to support the roughly 38 million people living with HIV worldwide, and to remember the approximately 40 million people who have died of AIDS since 1981.
Many Connecticut communities will observe World AIDS Day. Contact a local HIV/AIDS service provider in your area for information about World AIDS Day activities in your community. Service providers are encouraged to email the CHPC at montemurro@xsector.com so we can help publicize your events via our email list!
